Job description



The aim of the Vertical & ERgonomic Transporter EXperience Demonstrator is to simplify helicopter piloting through intelligent and cognitive technology with enhanced human-machine interfaces.

VERTEX , an Airbus UpNext demonstrator, will determine that new advanced systems (composed of new Avionics, vision and radar technologies, simplified HMI) can lead to a drastic simplification of the training of the helicopter pilots.

We are looking for a Computer Vision Developer (m/f) with a mission that will last until the full demonstration of the proof-of-concept and the associated flight test reports, scheduled at the end of June 2023. The job is based in Toulouse (or Marignane).


Your main missions

  • Participating to the development of the different software required to ensure the demonstration (bench and flight)
  • Implementing the algorithms based on state of art.
  • Building the bench for HW-in-the-loop testing
  • Actively participating to promote/disseminate/develop the skills as new core business within Airbus Helicopters.
  • This position may require some business travels (France & international)

Your Boarding Pass:

  • Degree in Engineering, or equivalent
  • Skills evidence/demonstration of participation and results on illustrative realisations on past projects
  • 10+ years experience in software development & simulation
  • Strong knowledge/Experience in OpenCV, Cuda/OpenGL, C/C++ (perfectly mastered as the tools to implement the solutions)
  • Experience is SLAM algorithms
  • Ability to manage/lead the interfaces with other teams within Airbus Helicopters and UpNext
  • Capable to adapt and work with specific Methods/Process/Tools used within Vertex
  • Eager to step out of the comfort zone
  • Critical thinker that takes on big challenges to create innovative solutions
  • Able to take initiatives to propose simpler and efficient ways of working
  • Autonomy, Adaptability, Availability, Accountability
  • Impatient with a burning desire to execute rapidly, without compromising either safety or ethics or compliance.
  • Sharing the values of transparency, courage, humility, empathy and care for others.
  • Communication and problem-solving skills, ability to understand complex systems and ability to work within a team in a fast paced environment
  • Negotiation level in English
